INTRODUCING THE NEIGHBORHOOD STOREFRONTS PROGRAM

In early January 2025, the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority purchased the ground floor of 1175 Cambridge Street to serve as the first retail space to be operated under the CRA’s Neighborhood Storefronts Project (NSP).

The NSP is intended to provide retail space under flexible lease terms to support the success of independently-owned retail businesses. Through the NSP, the CRA seeks to preserve the distinct local character of Cambridge’s retail districts and expand economic opportunity by providing local entrepreneurs access to lower cost retail space.

The Neighborhood Storefronts Project is a community-driven plan to transform the space at 1175 Cambridge Street site in Cambridge, MA into a vibrant collection showcasing the best of the area's local small business, Minority Owned Businesses and Women Owned Businesses.



1175 Cambridge Street will add up to 5 new storefronts to provide affordable retail space for locally owned businesses and expand economic opportunity to entrepreneurs, including women and people of color.
